Pastor Bio

Reverend Sally Bevill

Reverend Bevill has been an ordained elder in the Methodist Conference of the United Methodist church for 25 years. She just served as the Lead pastor of Heritage United Methodist Church on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and began her ministry at Hawkins UMC when she arrived on June 21, 2016.

After serving three summers as a volunteer in missions in La Paz Bolivia, Reverend Bevill attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA where she graduated with honors and receive her Masters of Divinity. For ten years Reverend Bevill served as a Domestic missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries. As a missionary assigned to the MS Conference, Reverend. Bevill served as the director of Hispanic Ministries, created and developed the Trinity Mission Center in Forest, MS and co-founded The Mississippi Immigrant Rights Alliance.

After Hurricane Katrina, Reverend Bevill moved to the Gulf Coast to work with the Hispanic community and to help in the recovery efforts. She founded the non-profit organization El Pueblo/Project Safe Space, a ministry for Immigrants and other vulnerable groups such as the residentially challenged. As the director of El Pueblo/Project Safe Space, Reverend Bevill became a Board of immigration Appeals immigration specialist, an ESL teacher, and a grant writer. Her work with immigrants and the Homeless community, as well as her passion for social justice and advocacy, have made her the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions. She continues to serve as an immigration law consultant and spends her energy fighting for equality and justice, while preaching and teaching the love and compassion of Christ.

She has served in local churches along the way including Hernando, Vancleave, Ridgeland, Jackson, Monterey, Biloxi, and Lewisburg. Sally loves to preach, teach, sing, and laugh.

Sally is married to Todd Eman and together they have five children. Brett and Erin Eman live in Arizona near their mother where Erin teaches and Brett works with a local company. Sara Del Castillo teaches with Teach for America in New Orleans, Andrew Del Castillo is a senior at Millsaps college hoping to begin Medical school after graduation, and Anna Del Castillo is a junior at Tufts University in Boston majoring in International Relations. Our new pastoral family is excited about moving to Vicksburg and journeying together in Ministry.
